The Department of Pharmacology, A. J. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre, Mangaluru was established in October 2002. The Pharmacology department is actively involved in teaching Undergraduate & Post Graduate Medical Students through its professionally proficient faculty, state of the art Museum and excellent laboratory for Animal Research activities. Teaching for the undergraduate includes Didactic Lectures, Seminars, Small Group Discussion, Tutorials, Quiz, Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) and Practicals.
Training for the Post Graduates (M.D) in Pharmacology was started from May 2009. Teaching for the Post Graduates includes weekly Seminars, Journal Clubs, Clinical Case Presentation, Internal Departmental Seminars, Guest Lectures, CMEs and Pharma Update.
Department is also involved in Pharmacovigilance and a Pharmacovigilance Associate Is co-ordinating the reporting of any suspected adverse drug reactions. The faculty members are also involved in various Clinical Trials associated with our Hospital. The Pharmacology Post Graduates students are involved in the Clinical Trials conducted at the Clinical Trial Unit of A. J. Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Centre Hospital, Mangaluru. Post Graduate students also attend Postings in variousClinical departments of General Medicine, Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Anaesthesia,Dermatology and Respiratory Medicine in rotation.
